Internships are an increasingly popular route into work for many.  For over ten years REED has been supporting individuals and organisations to gain invaluable work experience.

Could an Internship be right for you?

An Internship is a practical hands on work experience that will take place over a defined period of time. It gives you the chance to apply some of the knowledge you have already gained through study or prior work experience, whilst it gives you the opportunity to gain more confidence and get comfortable in a working environment.

REED began an Internship programme in 2009, offering a 12 week placement for people to gain insight into the recruitment industry.  In 2018 the scheme was reinvigorated and over 53 interns have been welcomed into the business.

A common goal for Interns is to secure a job by the end of the programme, with over 50% of REED interns have gained employment with REED or one of the thousands of businesses we work with. Whilst obtaining full time employment isn’t guaranteed, the move from Intern to full time employee helps to make the real world transition a smoother one.

An Internship can be an excellent way to help to build self-esteem and confidence as you build a network of contacts in your field. The REED Early Talent team ensure that anyone joining the scheme does so with a wealth of support and training, it’s important that you feel commitment during your Internship.

I was contacted by the Talent Acquisition Team informing me about the programme where I would be given the chance to build office experience – little did I know that the programme opened the door to me starting my career that I feel passionate about.”

The trust that was given to me as an Intern in particular gave me a lot of confidence. As part of the REED Internship offering, we are committed to helping ex-forces personnel reintegrate into successful civilian careers. A successful partnership with Thrive Youth Trust, a charity supporting young people facing unemployment and poverty began in 2018. Open days are held by the Early Talent team, which gives a greater understanding of REED and the roles available. During the open day, there is also the opportunity for participants to complete activities to showcase their skills before being invited to an interview. This partnership has already seen 10 young people given the opportunity to join REED and begin a career.
