Senior Email Developer

Reed Courses are looking for a Senior Email Developer to join their expanding Course Team in Holborn, London. 

Overview

 As a courses marketplace, we focus on connecting potential students with the right course, and offer a complete user experience from browsing through to purchase. 

As a Senior Email Developer dedicated to our Courses business, you’ll be part of a strong and talented team supporting the CRM function in continuing to deliver and optimise key marketing emails, managing and mentoring more junior members of the team, and be the technical expert in driving forward key strategic CRM objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting into our Software Development Manager, you will be part of the Courses Development team working within the Courses Marketing team

  • Creating reusable template components available to readily be used by CRM in new email templates

  • Being the technical expert to the CRM Manager to help achieve key strategic objectives

  • Creating compliant and consistent HTML emails to support our Development team with new and updated transactional emails

  • Supporting the Sales and Marketing departments with email campaigns

  • Producing first-class HTML emails while adhering to good coding practices for both site and email client media

  • Working closely with the design team and CRM team to deliver and optimise our emails and other campaigns, and maintain consistency and best practice

  • Managing a portfolio of images and content for the CRM to use in emails and other comms

  • Quality assuring email campaigns ahead of deployment

 

Key Measures and Targets 

  • Internal and external customer satisfaction: Emails will get a great response from our customers, and you will deliver work that satisfies and benefits our internal stakeholders.

  •  Working with CRM to maintain email KPIs: Open rate, click-through rate and conversion rate

  • Customer retention

  • Email deliverability and optimisation across desktop and mobile devices 

 

Required skills and experience

  • Solid HTML and CSS knowledge, combined with experience and ability coding to W3C standards as well as a good understanding of email limitations

  • Excellent technical knowledge of Braze

  • Braze Liquid Script (or solid JavaScript knowledge would be considered as a foundation)

  • Good working knowledge of various email clients, HTTP, caching, compression and other browser performance tweaks

  • Good communication skills are a must as the role will require constant contact with co-members in Marketing, Sales and Product as well as with clients

  • Skilled in producing clean, Responsive HTML & CSS code for email marketing that works cross-client/browser

  • An effective team player who is keen to drive their own success, and bring fresh ideas to the table

  • Ability to mentor more junior members of the team technically, and in career progression

  • Ability to prioritise

  • Attention to detail and an ability to work to very high standards

  • Strong customer focus

  • Enjoys working in a fast paced agile environment

 

Desirable skills and experience

  • Experience with HTML5

  • Experience in Return Path, Email on Acid, Litmus or similar
