Scrum Master

Reed.co.uk are looking for a Scrum Master to join their established team, based in Holborn, Central London (work from home approx. 3 days a week).


Working with delivery teams in facilitating and being jointly accountable for the delivery of highly valuable and quality digital products with 4 key focuses:

  • Team dynamics & environment – optimize multi-disciplinary teams & skilled individuals to deliver best quality software that furthers company goals
  • Agile tools & techniques – making sure teams are getting the best out of being agile. Learning new tools, knowing when to use them and know about current trends 
  • Servant leadership – coaching, diplomacy, leadership, communication and facilitation
  • Protection from external disruption – ensure teams are protected from internal encroachment on their time 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Facilitating discussion, decision making, conflict resolution, team meetings and coordinating ways of working
  • Facilitate internal communication and effective collaboration
  • Be the point of contact for external communications (e.g. from customers or stakeholders), improving transparency and radiating information
  • Supporting and coaching the Product Managers on backlog related topics
  • Resolve conflicts and remove obstacles that occur
  • Help teams develop a continuous improvement mindset and effectively navigate change
  • Help build a productive environment where team members ‘own’ the product and optimise product development processes with a focus on delivering value consistently and frequently
  • Continuously identifying areas of improvement using data-driven insights and developing tactics to effect change in said areas
  • Assessing the maturity of the team’s agile practices and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the teams
  • Building and mentoring leadership in the teams
  • Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution or being judged
  • Providing support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible, and leading by example
  • Coaching the team on capacity planning, predictability, adaptability, accountability and quality standards
  • Ensuring Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies & Decisions (RAIDD) are constantly identified & reviewed by the team, including effective visualisation of RAIDD items 

Skills and Experience: 

  • Experience in a Scrum Master role
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle
  • Excellent knowledge of Scrum techniques and artifacts (such as definition of done, user stories, automated testing, backlog refinement)
  • Good knowledge of other Agile frameworks (Kanban, Lean, XP etc.)
  • Excellent communication and servant leadership skills
  • Problem-solving and conflict-resolution ability
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games
  • Experience applying a wide variety of well documented patterns and techniques for optimising efficiency (example: numerous Burndown techniques, numerous Retrospective formats, handling bugs, story mapping, impact mapping, etc)
