Head of Quality

Reed.co.uk is looking for a Head of Quality to join the Engineering function within the business.

The role will be relatively greenfield, with the Head of Quality being responsible for executing the new Testing Strategy and Roadmap, assessing how the SDETs will be set up in the domain teams and providing proof of concepts/recommendations regarding technological implementation. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills with the ability to converse comfortably at senior level, simplifying complex technical approaches for comprehension by the board of directors and executives.

This is a senior strategic position within the business, with direct reporting to the Director of Engineering and AI.

The successful Head of Quality will have experience in the following areas:

  • Creation of Testing Strategy / Roadmaps

  • Testing pyramid and the principles used

  • A range of technologies and their architecture, setting up testing frameworks from scratch

  • Enabling teams with automation testing capabilities

  • Coaching the SDETs including development, infrastructure, architecture and data support

  • Leading the development of Test Automation Frameworks at all levels of the pyramid 

  • Identification and implementation of change to reduce cost, eliminate risk and improve quality associated with the on-going development of applications and solutions by the business

  • Comprehensively reporting on the state of system wide testing at all levels

The Head of Quality will be responsible for 

  • Continuously monitoring, understanding and informing on the internal testing requirements and deliver a Test Strategy to meet the needs of the Business today and in the future

  • Growing the Testing aspect of Engineering to support Reed Online in experimenting, building and releasing complex and bold market leading products

  • Establishing a reputation of Reed Online Engineering in the wider market to attract and retain top talent

  • Lead the definition and delivery of Quality quarterly and annual OKRs feeding into the company OKRs

  • Empowering the teams in owning their quality needs and outcomes

  • Leading the implementation of control in CI/CD pipelines to the extent that we’re releasing multiple times a day with full confidence

  • Setting up principles for all aspects of quality management including functional, NFR, and Security

  • Tracking progress of Testing Programmes and presenting to the Senior Leadership Team
