Head of Data

Reed.co.uk is looking for a Head of Data to join the new Data & AI function in their Holborn office.

Overview

The role will be relatively greenfield, with the Head of Data being responsible for executing the new Data Strategy and Roadmap, assessing how the team will be set up and providing proof of concepts/recommendations regarding tech implementation. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills with the ability to converse comfortably at senior level, simplifying complex technical approaches for comprehension by the board of directors and executives.

This is a senior strategic position within the business, with direct reporting to the Director of Engineering and Data.

The successful Head of Data will have experience in the following areas:

  • Senior Business Intelligence / Data position
  • Creation of Data Strategy / Roadmaps
  • A solid understanding of BI / Data technologies and their architecture
  • Experience in building / managing data teams
  • Managing the Data functions including modelling, insight, infrastructure, architecture and data support
  • Leading the development of data solutions for complex systems, making sure of consistency with specified requirements agreed within the Data team and the broader CIO function
  • Identification and implementation of change to reduce cost, eliminate risk and improve quality associated with the on-going use of data applications and solutions by the business
  • Setting up and growing a data informed organisation in line with the wider group objectives keeping sustainability at its heart
  • Designing an evolving Data Strategy removing all inefficiencies from the engine in an iterative way
  • Defining and leading execution of ML models taking them all the way to production with clear metrics for performance verification

The Head of Data will be responsible for 

  • Continuously monitors and understands the internal Customer data requirements and delivers data strategy to meet the needs of the Business today and in the future
  • Growing the AI function to support Reed Online in experimenting, building and releasing complex and bold market leading products
  • Establishing a reputation of Reed Online Engineering in the wider market to attract and retain top talent
  • Lead the definition and delivery of Data Engineering and AI quarterly and annual OKRs feeding into the company OKRs
