BI Manager

We are seeking an enthusiastic BI manager to join our Analytics & BI team and help support the business in maximising the use of data and insight, driving real change internally and for our customer groups.

Overview

Data is a fundamental part of what we do as a business, driving the day-to-day decisions of stakeholders across the business.  BI has recently been brought together as a single function alongside Analytics and we want to ensure that we leverage this close relationship, to bring data to the masses.

This is a great opportunity for individuals that have a strong background in data architecture and manipulation, to take the next step in leading a team of motivated individuals and drive a strategy of change.  There will be opportunities to bring in new technologies as well as work with interesting technologies that are currently being used, including Big Query, Snowflake, Talend and Looker.

 

Key responsibilities

This role will centre around owning and maintaining the BI infrastructure, data products and services and will drive impact across all teams at Reed Online.  Initially the focus will be to build on our current data ecosystem but then will require a longer term view, which may require the replacement tools. You will bring new leadership to take us to the next level of a data driven culture.  This role should aim to bring people, data and technology closer together to deliver a greater BI ROI in addition to helping transform reed to a customer leading organisation through the effective use of data.

 

The key responsibilities of the role are:

  • Manage a team of highly skilled and motivated BI individualis, empowering them to produce work of a high quality and delivering projects of high value

  • Own, build and maintain our BI stack (data warehousing, ETL, Analytics), ensuring we are utilising the right tools to deliver high quality data and analytics

  • Support the Head of Analytics & BI in delivering a data strategy designed to make data the focal point of the Reed Online business

  • Design BI processes and policies, driving consistency in everything that we do

  • Work with data partners, ranging from database teams through to Analysts, bridging the data gaps to enable data to flow smoothly

  • Work to remove ad hoc processes and move them into a structured delivery process, where consistency can be maintained

  • Creation of a data centre of excellence, ensuring that we have the utmost confidence in our data, encouraging more people to use and trust it

 

Skills and experience

  • Substantial knowledge of data warehousing and architecture

  • Substantial experience of using data visualisation  for enterprise reporting

  • Knowledge of relational and dimensional data modelling

  • Knowledge and application of ETL platforms 

  • Experience of working with senior stakeholders (Board/Exec level)

  • Experience managing/coaching/mentoring 

  • Have a natural ability to simplify the complex and have the skills to articulate in a concise manner

  • A strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in your work

  • The ability to network effectively, making allies across the business to enhance your influence

  • A collaborative approach to working, with the ability to appropriately assess the needs of a

  • You are an enthusiastic self-starter with an enquiring mind and a passion for solving problems
